A Son’s Mission: Louis-Philippe’s Story
For Louis-Philippe, the story of Ethnocare is deeply personal. It began not in a lab or a boardroom, but at home, watching his mother navigate life after an illness led to the loss of both her legs below the knee.
Growing up in Canada, he saw firsthand how her mobility was often limited, not just by the physical challenge of limb loss, but by the discomfort and fit issues of her prosthetic sockets.
As a young college student studying design, Louis-Philippe carried those images with him. He wasn’t just learning to sketch ideas or shape materials, he was dreaming of solutions that could make his mother’s everyday life better.
What started as a son’s wish to ease his mother’s pain turned into a mission to improve the lives of thousands of people facing similar challenges.
He teamed up with his classmate Marc, and together they began working on early sketches and prototypes.
They explored these questions with curiosity and determination, and soon invited Vincent to join them.
Together, the trio founded Ethnocare, a company rooted in empathy, audacity, perseverance, innovation, and a clear vision: to redefine people’s mobility.
Their first product, the Overlay, was developed through close collaboration with clinicians and patients, ensuring that the voices of those who needed it most were always part of the design process.
